Chartink vs Screener.in: split the research job before comparing plans

Chartink vs Screener.in compares two tools that do different jobs: Chartink runs price and indicator scans, charts and alerts, while Screener.in screens companies on their financials and ratios. A trader can use Screener to shortlist companies and Chartink to run price scans on that list, so choose by the job you need done. On 14 October 2026, Screener Premium cost ₹4,999 a year and Chartink Premium ₹8,500 for 365 days (or ₹780 for 30 days), both including tax.

Chartink vs Screener, which is better? Start with your question

Neither is better across the board. Use Screener.in when your question is about a company: its sales, profits or ratios. Use Chartink when your question is about price, volume or an indicator. A financial query needs comparable periods and definitions. A technical scan needs price intervals, indicator settings and a declared scan universe. Both can return a list of company names, but those lists answer different questions.

Screener's guide describes building queries, saving them and receiving summaries when new results appear. Chartink's Premium listing describes configurable scans, automatic refresh and scheduled alerts. Neither description proves that a returned company is suitable for a trade.

The stock screeners guide introduces these jobs. The workflow below is an illustrative research schedule, not the trading history of an actual customer, a stock-selection recommendation or a tested performance claim.

A research flow with a record at each handoff

    1. 1

      Company question → financial worksheet

Specify the financial period, reporting basis and exact ratio definition. Save the query and the fields needed to explain why a row qualifies. Screener's documented query workflow fits this part of the exercise.

    2. 2

Qualified universe → saved identifier list

Preserve the list with its date and identifiers. Do not assume two sites use identical company names, exchange symbols or universe membership. Reconcile mismatches before treating a missing row as a failed condition.

    3. 3

Price question → technical condition log

Declare the interval, completed-bar convention, indicator settings and refresh policy. Chartink's configurable scans and alerts address this different task. Retain the condition itself alongside any resulting list.

    4. 4

      Observation → review note

Record what matched, what was missing and what still needs a source check. A scan match is an observation under the saved conditions; it does not supply a forecast or an execution instruction.

Which documented feature serves which research task?

Keep financial periods and technical intervals separate

An annual financial condition changes when its underlying data changes, while an intraday price condition can depend on which candle is complete. Combining the two requires a clear handoff. Record the date of the financial list separately from the time of the price scan.

If you revise a company filter after looking at the technical results, preserve the original list. Otherwise the later shortlist can look inevitable when it was actually chosen after seeing the outcome. A useful review note explains why each condition existed before the subsequent observation.

Do not describe financial screening as inherently long term or technical screening as inherently profitable intraday. The chosen query, dataset and review horizon determine what the exercise means. Our intraday screeners guide deals with refresh and notification timing in more detail.

An illustrative week using both research paths

    1. Define the company question

Write a financial condition in plain language and translate it into an inspectable query. Save the reporting-period assumptions. No actual company list is supplied here.

    2. Reconcile the universe

Check identifiers between the saved financial list and the technical platform. Record unavailable securities or fields instead of silently dropping them.

    3. Specify one technical observation

Write the interval and completed-bar rule. Preserve the condition before checking which fictional or old observations satisfy it; do not tune it to fit a preferred result.

    4. Review an alert's evidence

Distinguish when the underlying observation occurred, when the scan evaluated it and when a notification arrived. This schedule is illustrative; no alert was created or timed for this guide.

    5. Review the research process

Compare the saved specification with the actual outputs. Note changes and missing data. A later profitable outcome would not make an incorrect query translation accurate.

Free access may already answer the first question

Screener's current comparison includes stock screens and custom ratios in its free tier. It lists two free screen alerts versus 75 in Premium, and makes downloaded results a Premium capability. Screen alerts are a different row from stock alerts, so do not interchange their allowances.

The same page lists AI features. A free plan with limited summaries and a separately listed AI credit entitlement should not be described as having no AI. The AI screener comparison separates query translation, summaries and data coverage.

Chartink's FAQ says its scans and charts are free to use and that alerts are a premium service at 780 INR a month. Its subscription listing describes shorter scan intervals and automatic refresh in Premium. This review has not measured a universal current free-data delay, and it does not assume that repeated manual refreshes reproduce a paid alert workflow.

Annual research-tool budget using the listed amounts

Screener's Premium page lists ₹4,999 a year, and its FAQ says the price includes GST. Chartink's subscription page lists ₹780 for 30 days, ₹2,220 for 90 days and ₹8,500 for 365 days, with "prices inclusive of all taxes". Both checked on 14 October 2026; we did not complete a checkout on either site.

Screener Premium, one yearIncluding GST, per Screener's FAQ.
    ₹4,999
Chartink Premium, 365-day planInclusive of all taxes, per Chartink's plan card.
    ₹8,500
    Both for one year
    ₹4,999 + ₹8,500 = ₹13,499
Chartink for 365 days at the 30-day rate₹26 a day. Twelve 30-day plans cost ₹9,360 but cover only 360 days.
    ₹780 ÷ 30 × 365 = ₹9,490
    Saving on the 365-day plan₹990 ÷ ₹9,490 × 100 ≈ 10.4%, rounded to one decimal place.
    ₹9,490 − ₹8,500 = ₹990

A refresh interval is only one part of an alert

Chartink's FAQ says notification delivery may be delayed by up to a minute while scans are processed. That is provider documentation, not our measured phone-delay result. Browser permissions, channel settings and device conditions would also need a real test before quoting an end-to-end time.

Screener's documented new-result summaries serve a saved-query workflow. This review does not establish a phone-delivery latency for that feature. Avoid converting a screen-alert allowance into a promise of a particular notification speed.

For either platform, save the query, universe, observation period and notification configuration. Those details make the event interpretable when the result later changes. The presence of an alert alone does not establish which data was evaluated.

    Questions that resolve the comparison

    • Does the financial query preserve the intended definition?

Check consolidated versus standalone data and the chosen period. Read the source filing for any material exception rather than accept a ratio without context.

    • Does the technical condition preserve its observation time?

Record interval and bar completion, including what information existed when the match was evaluated.

    • Does a paid feature remove an actual bottleneck?

An allowance or export can be useful if it serves your workflow. Buying both subscriptions is an optional budget scenario, not a recommendation.

Review the handoff as carefully as the tool

These providers can sit in the same research process, with different records retained at each stage. The quality of the handoff matters: a stale list, a mismatched symbol or a changed period can undermine an otherwise valid condition.

The platforms directory collects related comparisons. Choose the job, preserve its inputs, and verify the feature in the relevant account. Before paying for either, check that the feature you need is unlocked in your own account; this guide did not complete a checkout on either site.
