Bracket order brokers: six order features compared across twelve brokers

Bracket order brokers offer different products and interface support, so an old yes/no list can mislead. This dated matrix compares six order features across twelve Indian brokers using their own documentation. It identifies withdrawals, replacements and app/API differences, and leaves unverified capabilities clearly marked.

Facts checked 14 Oct 2026 against 43 sources. No affiliate links. Not investment advice.

Bracket order brokers: support varies by product and interface

Bracket order brokers cannot be compared with one yes/no label. Groww documents F&O brackets on its app and website, Kotak Neo publishes an intraday bracket placement guide, and SAMCO documents app BO/CO for intraday. Zerodha says BO has been disabled since March 2020. FYERS says its legacy bracket and cover products were replaced by Smart Stop-Loss and Target.

The matrix below separates those descriptions, plus GTT, baskets, iceberg and slicing. It also separates Shoonya's terminal FAQ from its restrictions on new API orders. This is a feature comparison without a broker winner, investment advice or a claim about fill quality.

For definitions, use bracket orders, GTT and the beginner order guide. This page focuses on who documents the feature and where.

Bracket-style exits, GTT OCO and named legacy BO are kept distinct. A GTT or VTT entry establishes OCO only where explicitly stated. Listings do not establish every segment or every account. SAMCO basket entry is API documentation, not app testing. Shoonya terminal and API have separate published descriptions. Angel One app help identifies Robo/Bracket; its dedicated Robo help says mobile, with web availability not yet established. The corresponding source IDs appear in the numbered source list.

Order-type changes with dates we could verify

    1. Zerodha disables BO on Kite

Current support explicitly dates the withdrawal to March 2020. It does not say that all brokers withdrew brackets then.

      Source: [3]

    2. Zerodha publishes the automatic slicing update

The dated update documents Kite Web order slicing beyond exchange freeze limits. Its old quantity examples are not reused as current limits.

      Source: [6]

    3. Groww announces F&O bracket orders

The official launch describes app and website placement. We do not reproduce vendor speed or near-zero-slippage claims as measured results.

      Source: [16]

    4. Upstox withdraws new cover orders

The announcement says CO is discontinued for new orders and describes a GTT alternative. It is an Upstox product announcement, not evidence of a universal regulatory prohibition.

      Source: [21]

Replacement names do not prove identical execution

FYERS' current help says legacy BO and CO have been replaced with Smart Stop-Loss and Target. Its newer order-window guide shows those controls alongside regular orders and GTT. We therefore record a replacement, rather than keep an old bracket tick or assume that the new controls behave identically to the old product.

Upstox documents GTT with a target and stop-loss, and its cover-withdrawal announcement suggests a primary-order-plus-stop GTT alternative. That is useful context, but an alternative does not establish continuing availability of a product called CO. Its legacy BO status was not verified in the pages checked.

Dhan calls its persistent-trigger feature Forever, and its own help maps that name to GTT/GTC/VTT used elsewhere. Angel One's app manual uses Robo/Bracket wording, while dedicated Robo support describes mobile placement. The table keeps those broker names visible so readers can find the correct help page.

A replacement or renamed feature still needs its own product, session and interface checks. Do not copy an older menu path or a generic order tutorial into a current execution plan.

Iceberg and freeze slicing need separate columns

Zerodha's iceberg help describes sequential legs: the next leg is sent after the previous one completes. Dhan's current iceberg help says Iceberg+ places the sliced legs simultaneously, replacing an earlier separate-leg approach. Sharing an 'iceberg' label therefore does not establish the same release sequence.

Freeze slicing answers a different operational question: how an eligible large order is broken into exchange-sized orders. Dhan documents an API slicing endpoint for F&O. Upstox describes automatic above-freeze slicing in supported NSE/BSE equity and F&O segments, subject to execution conditions. Groww documents above-freeze options slicing. FYERS documents a maximum of ten sliced orders for its eligible slicing feature.

The 5paisa web product page lists bulk Order Slicing, but the inspected listing does not establish automatic above-freeze handling. That cell stays qualified. For other brokers, an iceberg or slicing entry remains unverified if we could not establish it in their own pages.

The freeze-quantity glossary explains the exchange limit. This matrix intentionally does not copy historical Nifty quantities from product announcements. A dated illustration is not today's instrument limit.

One instruction can create several billable orders

Illustrative order counts only; no trade, current freeze limit or broker price is assumed. Suppose one large instruction is released as three executed child orders, compared with one instruction that executes as a single order.

Per executed order/leg, where the tariff says so

    Sources: [5], [6], [26]

A basket does not certify that every leg filled

Zerodha's basket instructions say to check each individual order's status after execution. Angel One's basket support describes individual order statuses and retrying a failed order. Those are reasons to examine the resulting order book, even when the interface starts several orders together.

The table does not claim that every broker's basket is an atomic transaction, where all legs fill together or none does. It also does not infer a margin benefit, a fixed release order or a cross-segment combination merely from a Basket label. Those details need the broker's actual help for the combination you intend to use.

The same caution applies to GTT OCO. Zerodha's help distinguishes supported product types and buy-OCO restrictions. Flattrade's policy describes sell-only OCO. Groww's GTT help covers stocks and F&O, while its August 2023 product update separately lists F&O OCO. Neither reference certifies every contract or exit workflow. The 5paisa web page calls its persistent trigger feature Valid Till Triggered (VTT); its listing does not establish OCO support. Read the feature's own scope before treating the same column as an identical workflow.

Questions to confirm in your actual order window

    • Interface and product

Check whether the documentation is for the app, web terminal, EXE, API or a named older platform. Match that interface to the product and segment you use.

    • Current eligibility

Check whether the order window actually offers the feature for the selected instrument. 'Available' in a product catalogue does not guarantee that every contract is enabled.

    • Release and cancellation behavior

Confirm when exit legs appear, what cancels them and what happens after partial execution. This comparison records documented distinctions without testing those paths.

    • Billing and order status

Check the number of resulting orders, their individual statuses and the tariff basis. Count executed child orders where fees depend on executions.

    • Intraday end-of-session handling

Use the separate auto square-off guide for broker cutoffs and fee conflicts. This matrix does not introduce a second timing table.

Use the matrix as a dated starting point

Keep the CSV's check date and source IDs when you save it. If a feature is unverified, ask the broker for a current help article naming the interface and supported product. If a broker withdraws or replaces a feature, keep the old source as history rather than treating it as current availability.

Before creating an order, your written entry, stop and exit process should name the control you intend to use. The stop-loss calculator can help with your own arithmetic; it does not turn a planned stop into a guaranteed execution price.

This comparison is checked from documents, without affiliate income or a recommendation to select a broker or place a trade. Recheck feature support after broker updates and at least semi-annually, especially where the source is a product listing or an older interface guide.
