NSE real time data price: pay for the feed, fields and rights you need
NSE real time data price depends on how you receive and use it. Broker charts can be included in an account, some broker APIs include a feed without a subscription, and others charge for data. Vendor API access is a separate product: TrueData's visible Velocity plans exclude it, and Global Datafeeds quotes API requirements individually. The comparisons below were checked on 14 October 2026.

Choose the receiving route before comparing the price
- 1
For a chart inside your broker account
Check the included chart service first. Dhan, for example, says active account users can use its live TradingView chart features on tv.dhan.co free. That entitlement is separate from a programmatic Data API subscription.
- 2
For a program using your own account
Identify the broker's feed mode, instrument allowance and subscription. Kite Connect supplies data on its paid Connect tier; Dhan has a paid Data API; Upstox and FYERS advertise free standard data access. Brokerage and account costs remain separate.
- 3
For a desktop package or a vendor API
Specify the receiving software and required interface. A desktop feed plugin price cannot establish a hosted WebSocket API price. TrueData explicitly separates those products, and Global Datafeeds asks for API requirements before quoting.
- 4
For a service others will see
Ask about permitted users and display rights as well as data fields. A personal feed subscription is not sufficient evidence of permission to operate a public quote service. Obtain terms for the actual proposed use.
What the quoted prices cover
This guide compares incremental data access charges and documented data capabilities. It does not price a whole trading account or rank feed quality. A WebSocket is a persistent connection through which a server pushes updates; an API snapshot is requested when needed. Last traded price, or LTP, is a different observation from the best available bid and ask.
The cost ladder below separates chart viewing, programmatic broker feeds, desktop subscriptions and vendor APIs. Its tax column stays unresolved when a source does not establish the final amount. We have not completed a vendor checkout, obtained a private quotation or measured a live feed. The word “free” therefore concerns the stated access charge, with the account and product conditions shown alongside it.
The data cost ladder, with tax and product boundaries
Company pages opened 14 October 2026. These are different access products, not interchangeable bundles. Unknown tax-inclusive bills are withheld. Subscription figures exclude brokerage, statutory trade charges and infrastructure.
| Receiving route | Published data-access charge | Tax-inclusive amount established? | Product boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dhan charts on tv.dhan.co | Free charting features for active account users | No separate chart subscription amount | Viewing in the broker's chart service; not a Data API entitlement |
| TradingView.com chart subscription | Use the dedicated chart/data guide for plan and exchange charges | Depends on the selected plan and exchange product | Separate charting platform; retail pricing covered by F21 |
| FYERS standard data API | Free, per support FAQ | ₹0 stated access subscription | History, quotes and market data; other account and trading charges separate |
| Upstox standard API feed | Free access advertised | ₹0 stated standard access subscription | Plus feed limits and deeper mode are a separate entitlement; Plus price not verified here |
| Kite Connect | ₹500 per app per month | Current GST inclusion not stated; final tax bill withheld | Connect adds live/history data; Personal excludes them; eligible renewal credits separate |
| Dhan Data API | ₹499 + applicable taxes every 30 days | Tax rate not stated by this subscription FAQ; final bill withheld | Data subscription; ordinary trading API is a separate service |
| TrueData Velocity | Headline starts ₹1,699/month; NSE EQ Lite cell shows ₹1,439.83/month | Complete selection/invoice not verified; difference not assigned to GST | Desktop feed plans expressly exclude programmatic API access |
| TrueData Market Data API | Amount depends on exchange, symbols and data type; no usable fixed quote captured | API tax total not established | Separate application, compliance review and approval; exchange-fee wording conflicts |
| Global Datafeeds API | Tailored quote requested on its API pricing page | Amount and tax basis not established for this setup | Real-time, history, chain and snapshot products can have different requirements |
Chart row: Dhan; standard API rows: FYERS support and Upstox overview, with Plus limits from v3 docs; paid broker rows: their own subscription FAQs. TrueData desktop prices and exclusion: current pricing page; API pricing variables: API information page. Global Datafeeds: official tailored-pricing statement. TradingView is a referral to the separate guide, not a newly quoted tariff.

Authorised status does not select a package for you
The names above come from NSE's own published PDF, rather than a vendor's self-description. This verifies the entries and the indicated NSE segments. It does not establish a BSE or MCX agreement from the NSE list, guarantee response time, or make one company a recommendation.
Use the Indian TrueData website and its exact legal-name entry when comparing information. A similarly named overseas business is not evidence about this provider. Vendor pages contain feature and speed marketing, which we have not converted into measured rankings. In particular, a vendor's suggestion that broker feeds lack exchange authorisation should not replace NSE's description of member feeds in clause 4.1.
NSE's direct-feed page describes Level 1 as best bid/ask, Level 2 as up to five bid/ask levels and Level 3 as up to twenty. It describes tick-by-tick data as a full order book and direct delivery through a dedicated leased line, with authorised vendors as another route. Those product definitions help specify a requirement; they do not mean that every vendor subscription supplies every level.
For the chart-viewing question, see why market data is delayed. It owns TradingView plan and exchange-add-on prices. This page concentrates on receiving a programmatic feed and the terms around it.
WebSocket allowances and depth belong to particular modes
Docs checked 14 October 2026. Published capacities, not observed throughput or uptime. A connection limit, per-connection instrument limit and mixed-mode limit are different units.
| Feed or mode | Documented allowance | Depth or field scope | Condition to preserve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kite Connect WebSocket | 3,000 instruments per connection; up to 3 connections per API key | Full quotes include 5 bid/offer levels | Paid Connect data entitlement |
| Dhan standard live feed | 5,000 instruments per connection; up to 5 connections per user | Full packet includes 5 levels | Not the allowance for Dhan's separate deep feeds |
| Dhan 20-level depth | Up to 50 instruments per connection | 20 levels | Separate endpoint; NSE equity and derivatives |
| Dhan 200-level depth | 1 instrument per connection | 200 levels | Separate endpoint; NSE equity and derivatives |
| Upstox normal v3 | 2 connections/user; single category: last traded price/close mode (LTPC) 5,000, Greeks 3,000, Full 2,000 | Full mode includes 5 levels and Greeks | Mixed-category limits: LTPC 2,000; Greeks 2,000; Full 1,500. Not all maxima simultaneously |
| Upstox Plus Full D30 | 5 connections/user; Full D30 single-category 50 keys; combined column 1,500 | 30 levels and Greeks | Plus entitlement. Combined column is reproduced as labelled, not used to infer 1,500 deep-mode keys |
| FYERS v3 | 9 Nov 2023 staff announcement: up to 5,000 symbols with latest SDKs | Announcement mentions a separate depth socket; current reference specifies 5 levels for REST depth | REST depth count is not attributed to the WebSocket; current socket depth allowance not established here |
| TrueData API | Subscribed instrument allowance requires the selected API quote | Product page advertises NSE L1 and BSE L2; separate information page describes BSE 5-level depth | Product/segment specific; no latency or entitlement test |
| Global Datafeeds real-time API | Subscribed allowance requires the tailored quote | Published L1 feed: single best bid/ask, 1-second frequency | Published cadence is not an independently measured delivery delay |
Each broker supplies its own limits. Do not multiply a user-wide allowance by connections unless the documentation gives a per-connection allowance. Deeper Dhan feeds are separate from its standard full packet. Upstox normal and Plus categories have different scope. Vendor subscribed-symbol limits remain quote dependent.
Option-chain fields change the data requirement
An option chain groups contracts by expiry and strike. Open interest, or OI, records outstanding derivative positions; implied volatility, or IV, and Greeks are model-related fields rather than promises about the next price move. Ask whether the endpoint returns those fields directly, which expiry it covers and how observations are timestamped.
A WebSocket quote feed can update subscribed option contracts without providing a single chain response. Conversely, a chain endpoint can return a snapshot while imposing a request throttle. Paying for either one does not establish that the other is included. For an explanation of the fields themselves, use what an option chain is.
NSE's official option-chain webpage includes expiry and strike selection and a CSV download control. That public page is not sufficient evidence of a supported developer API entitlement or redistribution permission. Use documented access products for programmatic requirements. This guide provides no hidden website endpoint, scraping script or access-restriction workaround.
Documented option-chain fields and refresh conditions
Official broker docs and vendor product descriptions opened 14 October 2026. Payloads were not tested. “Not established” preserves uncertainty; a request throttle is not a freshness measurement.
| Service | Price, OI and volume | IV and Greeks | Expiry and timing scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dhan chain | LTP, OI, previous OI, volume, top bid/ask and quantities | IV plus delta, gamma, theta and vega | Underlying and expiry inputs; one unique request every 3 seconds; different underlyings/expiries can be requested concurrently |
| Upstox Put/Call chain | LTP, OI, previous OI, volume, bid/ask and quantities | IV plus delta, gamma, theta and vega | Underlying key and expiry; observed refresh delay not tested |
| FYERS option-chain reference | LTP, OI/change/previous OI, volume, best bid/ask | greeks=1 requests delta, gamma, theta, vega and IV | Expiry timestamp selectable; strikecount max 50; current feed freshness not tested |
| Kite quote stream | Individual instrument quotes and full depth fields | Dedicated chain/Greeks endpoint not established by the quote docs opened | Do not label a subscribed quote stream a complete chain API |
| TrueData API products | Whole-chain retrieval advertised; exact chain payload verified here only at product-description level | IV, delta, theta, vega and gamma advertised | Contractual product scope and observed refresh need confirmation |
| Global Datafeeds API products | Whole-chain API advertised; not an independently inspected live payload | Separate option-Greeks product advertises IV, delta, theta, vega and gamma | Selected API product/quote applies; no live refresh measurement |
Broker rows use documented response fields. Vendor rows retain the weaker product-description scope rather than assigning a tested field-completeness score. The Dhan throttle concerns the same unique request; it is not a blanket one-call limit for all different underlying/expiry combinations.
Why an exchange licence fee is different from your API subscription
Illustrative licensing context: one capital-market Level 1 software/charting product and 100 assumed domestic end users. Use only the listed components from NSE's tariff effective 1 April 2026. This is not a quote for a personal API subscription, public website or all-in vendor service.
- Fixed yearly feeNSE section 1.1 software/charting, CM, L1
- ₹25,50,000
- Monthly equivalent of that fixed fee₹25,50,000 ÷ 12
- ₹2,12,500
- Listed monthly user component100 assumed domestic users × ₹875 per user/month
- ₹87,500
- These listed components per month, before taxes/levies
- ₹3,00,000

The tariff model has a limited purpose
The example explains the units behind a published exchange charge: an annual fixed component and a monthly user component. It does not tell a retail trader to pay that amount or imply that it is a vendor's profit margin. The actual arrangement can involve other segments, different usage categories, connectivity, delivery channels and agreement conditions. Those are outside this arithmetic.
NSE's accompanying notes say the fees exclude applicable taxes and levies and require written consent and a prior licence/agreement for data delivered as feeds to vendors' clients. This is why selecting a charting row cannot establish permission or an exact price for a different API use case. The quoted ₹25,50,000 and ₹875 match the corresponding figures in our existing data-delay guide.
Broker data subscriptions have their own accounting. Dhan's recurring debit is every 30 days; Kite's stated monthly charge is per app and its renewal credits have eligibility conditions. Our API charges guide covers brokerage alongside those fees. An included feed charge does not remove the cost of executing orders.
The requirements to put in a vendor quotation
The exact receiving product
Identify a desktop plugin, hosted WebSocket, REST snapshots or a chain product. Ask the vendor to state which is licensed and whether the required client software costs extra.
Segments and symbols
List the exchanges and segments, the number of simultaneously subscribed instruments and the depth mode. An underlying plus its option contracts can be a much larger subscription universe than the index alone.
An itemised payable amount
Request the billing period, base fee, exchange per-user fee, applicable taxes and any additional symbols or history. Keep written answers when public pages use different fee-inclusion wording.
Data history and continuity
Specify whether live delivery alone is enough or whether you need backfill and expired contracts. The historical-data comparison separates those archive requirements.
Users and permitted display
Describe personal analysis, proprietary trading or third-party display accurately. TrueData and Global Datafeeds both describe single-subscriber restrictions; a wider use needs the applicable terms and permission.
A verifiable operational test
If authorised trial access is available, log the mode, market session, timestamps, reconnects and missing fields. The published cadence and capacity should remain separate from your observed delay.
A feed purchase should solve an identified receiving problem
A trader who wants charts, a programmer consuming quotes and a company displaying prices have different requirements even when all three use NSE data. Write the requirement in those terms before comparing rupee figures. That makes an excluded API interface or an unknown tax basis visible early.
For desktop software ownership and related feed costs, follow the AmiBroker, Spider and TradingView cost comparison. A historical FYERS–TrueData partnership announcement does not establish a current bundled entitlement or price; we could not verify one for this comparison. Where the public documentation stops, this page leaves a question for the quote or trial instead of inventing a total, a delay or a winner.
